Biography

Technical depth shaped by operational responsibility.

Stephen VanVladricken is the founder and principal consultant of SJV Systems. He specializes in network infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, and enterprise IT operations, with more than 15 years of experience spanning hands-on engineering and technology leadership.

His career has progressed through roles including systems administration, cloud systems administration, cloud engineering, infrastructure leadership, and IT director positions. That range matters because complex technology decisions rarely belong to one discipline. Identity affects security. Infrastructure affects resilience. Cloud architecture affects cost and operations. Vendor decisions affect all of them. Stephen’s work is grounded in understanding those dependencies and turning them into practical decisions.

As a leader, Stephen has been responsible for strengthening security, modernizing infrastructure, managing technical risk, guiding major initiatives, and supporting reliable operations across complex organizations. He is particularly effective in situations where the business needs someone who can evaluate the environment, explain the tradeoffs to leadership, establish a clear direction, and remain close enough to the implementation to keep the work honest.

He founded SJV Systems to make that combination of judgment and execution available to organizations that need experienced technical ownership without building a large consulting team around every problem. His approach favors clear priorities, defensible architecture, direct communication, and systems that can be operated after the engagement ends.

Beyond the work
Community & life

Curiosity does not stop at technology.

Originally from Philadelphia, Stephen has called Colorado home for more than 20 years. He has contributed to efforts focused on improving mobility across the greater Denver area and served on the Board of Directors for Community Housing Partners of Colorado, an organization working to expand access to affordable housing and supportive services.

Away from technology, Stephen is usually spending time with his family, planning the next trip, or working on a remodeling project. He enjoys the process of taking something apart, understanding how it works, and rebuilding it with greater purpose, whether that means improving a home, solving a technical problem, or learning an entirely new skill.

Colorado also gives him plenty of room to recharge. Hiking and snowboarding remain favorite ways to get outside, while travel offers the chance to experience new places, food, architecture, and perspectives. It is a life shaped by family, curiosity, hands-on work, and the belief that there is always something worth learning or improving.
